Job Category: VIP BJob Description:If you are passionate about data analytics, numerical modelling and marine research, we have an opportunity for you!DTU Aqua invites applications for a two-year postdoctoral position to develop and apply emulators for Earth System Models (ESMs), with a particular focus on the role of the biological carbon pump in oceanic carbon cycling and climate feedbacks. The research will integrate machine learning algorithms and Earth System Models to emulate carbon processes in the ocean connected to the biological activities.You will be enrolled in DTU’s Section for Oceans and Arctic and be part of the Ocean Observation research area as well as of a larger interdisciplinary effort to improve the representation of biogeochemical processes in climate projections.The position is connected to the EU project OceanICU and the candidate is expected to participate in this research activity.Responsibilities and qualifications
The successful candidate will work on developing machine-learning-based or statistical emulators to approximate key outputs of complex Earth System Models, with the aim of enabling efficient uncertainty quantification, sensitivity analysis, and data integration.A central focus will be the representation of the biological carbon pump and its influence on ocean-atmosphere carbon exchange across temporal and spatial scales.Key tasks include:
