Postdoc in Membrane Distillation for Industrial Water Reuse and Green Fuel Synthesis – DTU Sustain
Danmarks Tekniske Universitet
Job Category: VIP BJob Description:Green fuels through Power-to-X (PtX) require vast amounts of water. Concurrently, the country’s pivot towards biogas compounds our water shortage with substantial water use and wastewater discharge. WaterGreen, the newly funded IFD Grand Solution project, aims to transform biogas plants’ process water into ultrapure water for green hydrogen production while recovering valuable chemicals. To drive innovation and research in the project, we are looking for an ambitious postdoc researcher to join our team and lead efforts in the field of Membrane distillation (MD) to convert biogas plant process water into ultrapure water for green fuel synthesis.Responsibilities and qualifications
We are seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher to spearhead our interdisciplinary efforts in MD. In this role, you will lead the development of advanced, structured membranes tailored for MD applications. These membranes will be rigorously tested within an MD pilot system to treat process water from biogas plants, aiming for the production of ultrapure water. You will also conduct comprehensive technical and economic assessments to guide the design of MD-based water treatment systems. This position offers a unique opportunity to collaborate closely with industrial partners across biogas production, water technology, biofuel production, and water electrolysis sectors. You will engage in project management and interdisciplinary collaboration, working alongside material scientists, environmental and resource engineers, and industry leaders in various EU and Danish innovation projects. Together, we will translate fundamental insights in membrane technology into practical, impactful solutions.Responsibilities and qualifications
As a formal qualification, you must hold a PhD degree (or equivalent). Specifically, a PhD in Materials Science and Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering and Chemistry, or a related field. In addition to this the best qualified candidate has:
