PostDoc position: “Identifying key processes underlying organic car
LABORATOIRE CHRONO-ENVIRONNEMENT
Contexte du recrutement et définition de poste :ContextIn the framework of the PEPR FairCarboN project Deep-C, we offer a 18-month postdoctoral position aimed at identifying the key processes that determine the fate of OC once in standing freshwater ecosystems, i.e. whether it accumulates in sediments, is transferred to benthic and/or pelagic food webs, or is emitted to the atmosphere. In particular, we are interested in how environmental variability, including natural and anthropogenic changes, affects the origin, quantity and quality of OM stocks in sediments and the balance between different OC fates. We specifically focus on the interplay between the different OC fates under environmental changes. To achieve this, the project will benefit from data on environmental drivers, OM characterisation and OC fates from 40 pilot sites in France, covering a wide range of land cover, climatic conditions and water types, including natural and artificial standing waters (e.g. lakes, ponds and reservoirs). This project aims to accurately quantify the role of standing freshwater ecosystems in the global carbon cycle, including small water bodies for which such knowledge is lacking, and how it is being altered by environmental change.Job descriptionThe tasks of the PostDoc will include:
