Offer Description

Osteoarthritis is the most common musculoskeletal disease and a major cause of disability and pain. No curative treatment can be proposed to patients. Cartilage degradation and subchondral bone remodeling are characteristic features of osteoarthritis. Both processes are intimately linked, underlining the pivotal role of osteochondral junction in osteoarthritis. Osteochondral junction remodeling in osteoarthritis includes hypertrophic differentiation of chondrocytes, angiogenesis and finally replacement of cartilage by bone. TARGET-OA project, which is funded by ANR AAPG program 2023, focused on the interplay between hypertrophic chondrocytes and subchondral bone endothelial cells. Thanks to in vitro, ex vivo and in vivo approaches, TARGET-OA projects aims at investigating the role of CXCL12-CXCR4 axis in osteoarthritis.

The postdoctoral fellow will be in charge of cell culture experiments to determine the role of CXCL-12 in the angiogenic activity of human and murine chondrocytes. He will carry out histomorphometric analysis of the knees of osteoarthritic mice deficient for CXCL12 and its receptor CXCR4.

The postdoctoral fellow will analyze and synthesize the results and present them at meetings involving the other TARGET-OA project partners.

The postdoctoral fellow is expected to contribute to the organizational life of the laboratory.

Specific Requirements

Training and skills required: PhD in Life science with strong expertise in cell biology (primary cultures, cell functional assays), histology and IHC.

Desirable knowledge, skills and abilities:

‐ Experiences in 3D cell culture/primary tissue culture

‐ Practice of animal models are not mandatory but will be a strong asset
