Offer DescriptionThe Pancreatic Cancer Lab is located at the Barcelona School of Medicine at the vibrant Campus of Bellvitge. We are part of the Oncobell program of IDIBELL and the Pathology and Experimental Therapy Departament of the University of Barcelona. Our group is focused on the study of pancreatic cancer with a special interest on a better understanding of the heterogeneity that exists in pancreatic cancer tumors from different patients. How the different identities of tumor cells are regulated and how these define the complex interactions with the tumor microenvironment are part of the questions we try to answer. To do this, we use state-of-the art omics analyses, which we complement with functional studies using primary in vitro and in vivo models.The candidate will join an interdisciplinary research team to work in a funded research project focused on deciphering the consequences of the tumor cell of origin. The project uses novel mouse genetic lines, and patient derived ex vivo models for the characterization of tumor heterogeneity (neoplastic and TME), early detection biomarker discovery and personalized drug treatment.We are looking for someone who not only possesses the necessary technical skills but also understands the power of collaboration. • PhD in Biological Sciences, Molecular/cell Biology, Biochemistry, Biomedicine or equivalent
• Certificate to work with animals (rodent)
• Experience in biomedical research (during doctoral and/or postdoctoral training)
• Previous training and experience in “in vivo” models (PDX, others) for oncology drug development studies
• Previous training and experience in 3D models or other ex vivo models for the study of cancer
• Excellent oral and written communication skills in English
• High level of motivation and commitment
• Ability to work independently and in a team

Specific RequirementsWe will favourably value:

• Previous experience in the field of pancreatic cancer and/or tumor microenvironment
• Publications as first author (in peer-reviewed journals or public reference repositories)
• Previous experience in collaboration with industry partners
• Previous experience in supervising students
