Offer DescriptionThe environmental sustainability of dairy farming is increasingly scrutinized, particularly regarding nitrogen loss and NH3 emissions from housing and manure management systems. Our previous research identified significant differences in nitrogen loss between CUB and CBP housing systems, with CBP systems exhibiting substantially higher NH3 emissions compared to CUB systems. Such emissions not only contribute to environmental degradation but also represent a loss of valuable nutrients. This project addresses critical environmental challenges by examining the full manure cycle, from production in barns to its application as fertilizer. The findings will inform strategies to reduce NH3 emissions while preserving the agronomic value of manure, thereby promoting sustainable agricultural practices. By making cross-disciplinary collaboration within Agrotecnio, the project leverages diverse expertise to comprehensively tackle NH3 emissions. • A PhD in Animal Science or Veterinary Sciences.

• Practical experience or theoretical knowledge in greenhouse gas (GHG) measurement, isotopic analysis, and amino acid profiling through chromatography techniques (e.g., HPLC, GC-MS).

Specific Requirements

• Demonstrated experience in handling datasets, performing statistical analyses, and applying data science techniques in agricultural or environmental research.

• Proficiency in Applied Statistics and Programming (JMP Software)

• Proficient English Language Skills

• Experience in interdisciplinary research projects.

• Strong publication record in relevant scientific journals
