Job description

About the roleApplications are invited for a Postdoctoral Research Associate in computational and experimental mechanistic studies of organometallic catalysis to work under the supervision of Professor Michael Neidig for a period of up to 36 months. The project is supported by the ERSPC and is focused on the development of iron catalysis for sustainable organic synthesis, including synergistic computational and experimental mechanistic studies to drive (pre)catalyst and methods development for carbon-carbon and carbon-heteroatom bond forming reactions.Find out more about Professor Neidig’s research and group at hereAbout youApplicants must hold a PhD in Chemistry or a relevant subject area, (or be close to completion) prior to taking up the appointment. The research requires experience in computational chemistry, including reaction coordinate studies in organometallic or transition metal catalysis. Desirable selection criteria also include experience in molecular inorganic synthesis, mechanistic studies of transition metal or organometallic catalysis in organic transformations, and experience with characterisation and reactivity studies of organometallic complexes. You will be expected to manage your own academic research and administrative activities. This involves small scale project management, to co-ordinate multiple aspects of work to meet deadlines. The post will be based in the Department of Chemistry, Inorganic Chemistry Laboratory, South Parks Road, OX1 3QR and is available from 1 July 2025.Application ProcessApplications for this vacancy are to be made online and you will be required to upload a supporting statement and CV as part of your application.
