University of Oxford
About the roleApplications are invited for two Postdoctoral Research Associate positions in organometallic chemistry and catalysis to work under the supervision of Professor Michael Neidig for a period of up to 36 months. The project is supported by the ERSPC and is focused on the development of iron catalysis for sustainable organic synthesis, including mechanism-driven (pre)catalyst and methods development for carbon-carbon and carbon-heteroatom bond forming reactions.Find out more about Professor Neidig’s research and group hereAbout youApplicants must hold a PhD in Chemistry or a relevant subject area, (or be close to completion) prior to taking up the appointment. The research requires experience in synthetic inorganic chemistry, including the preparation of air sensitive complexes and their spectroscopic and structural characterisation. Desirable selection criteria also include experience in organometallic chemistry and catalysis, mechanistic studies of transition metal catalysed reactions, DFT studies of transition metal complexes and experience with physical-inorganic characterisation methods (ex. EPR, Mössbauer, XAS).You will be expected to manage your own academic research and administrative activities. This involves small scale project management, to co-ordinate multiple aspects of work to meet deadlines. The post will be based in the Department of Chemistry, Inorganic Chemistry Laboratory, South Parks Road, OX1 3QR and is available from 1 June 2025.Application ProcessApplications for this vacancy are to be made online and you will be required to upload a supporting statement and CV as part of your application.
