Job description

We are seeking applications from Scanning Probe Microscopists to work in a multidisciplinary project team to study functional surfaces and interfaces created in ultra-high vacuum (UHV) conditions. You should have a PhD in Physics, Surface Science, Physical Chemistry or Imaging science with a strong publication track record and a demonstrated commitment to excellence. Exceptional Skills in high resolution scanning probe techniques such as Scanning Tunnelling Microscopy (STM), low-temperature STM and non-contact Atomic Force Microscopy (nc-AFM) in ultra-high vacuum conditions are essential. A strong background in surface science preparation and characterisation techniques is desirable.The position involves both research and innovation aspects and is offered for 2 years.If you are still awaiting your PhD to be awarded you will be appointed at Grade 6, spine point 30.
