We are recruiting for two Postdoctoral Research Associate positions in ¿organic synthesis¿ in the group of Professor John Bower.
You should have a PhD in organic chemistry, or a closely related area. You should have high level skills in one or more of the following areas: transition metal catalysis (esp. asymmetric catalysis), synthetic methodology development, physical organic chemistry, total synthesis. You should have a strong publication record.
We seek motivated and skilled individuals who are prepared to take a leading role in advancing projects from both an experimental and intellectual standpoint. You will need to be able to work as part of a team, ensuring that key milestones are reached. You will be expected to lead discussions and give regular research updates in person with the PI, and in wider research group meetings. You must have a pro-active and goal driven approach, be able to independently design and execute research, and have the knowledge and experience to optimise and troubleshoot.
The ability to plan your own workload and keep accurate scientific records is important.

The start date is 1st of October 2023, or as soon as possible thereafter. The positions are available for 23 months in the first instance. There is a possibility of renewal subject to mutual agreement.

Any applicants who are still awaiting their PhD to be awarded should be aware that if successful, they will be appointed at grade 6, spine point 30. Upon written confirmation that they have been successful in being awarded their PhD, they will be moved onto grade 7, spine point 31 from the date of their award
