This offer and contract are subject to obtaining the Project (Concession Resolution), the availability of financial funds and the effective start of the Project.JOB DESCRIPTIONICRA is seeking to incorporate a postdoctoral research fellow with strong background in analytical chemistry, in the scope of the project GENerate in Europe a Sustainable Industry for Semiconductor (GENESIS). The project brings together 59 stakeholders from the European semiconductor ecosystem, including companies, research organizations, universities, and industry associations.The successful applicant is expected to conduct independent research on the target and non-target analysis of per-and polyfloroalkyl substances (PFAS) in water, specifically waste streams generated in the semiconductor industry. The applicant will be expected to employ different cutting edge analytical tools available at ICRA for PFAS analysis, such as triple quadrupole-linear ion trap mass spectrometer (UPLC/QqLIT-MS, SCIEX), Orbitrap mass spectrometers coupled with liquid chromatography and ion chromatography (UPLC/Orbitrap Exploris 120, IC/Orbitrap Exploris 120).Additionally, the applicant will develop and employ complementary methods for the analysis of total organic fluorine (TOF) using combustion ion chromatography (CIC) instrumentation available at ICRA. Experience in liquid chromatography – mass spectrometry (LC – MS) is essential, experience with high resolution mass spectrometry (HRMS) is an advantage, as would be additional experience/knowledge in PFAS-related research.The scholar will be exposed to a multidisciplinary research environment at ICRA, and potentially involve in other ongoing projects focused on PFAS.Successful applicant will receive a three-year contract. Salary will depend on the previous experience of the candidate, as evaluated by the members of the reviewing committee.The project has received funding from the HORIZON-JU-Chips-2024-2-RIA-T2, from MICIU/AEI /10.13039/501100011033 and Co-financed by the European Union.KEY DUTIES1.Development and application of analytical methods for target analysis of PFAS in different matrices using UPLC/QqLIT-MS.2.Suspect screening of PFAS in water samples using the available HRMS instrumentation (UPLC/Orbitrap and IC/Prbitrap).3.Development and validation of methods for the analysis of total organic fluorine using CIC.4.
