The Department of General and Visceral Surgery (Head: Prof. Dr. Stefan Fichtner-Feigl) invites talented and highly gifted candidates to apply as Postdoctoral Researcher (m/f/d) in Bioinformatics in the DFG-funded collaborative research center TRR417 starting at October 2025 for three years initially with a possibility for extension.Postdoctoral Researcher in Bioinformatics (m/f/d) The University of Freiburg, founded in 1457, belongs to the best universities of Germany. • PhD in bioinformatics, oncology or computational biology
• profound experience in system biology and research interest in immunology and oncology
• independent worker open to adapt and develop novel technologies and methodologies
• knowledge in bioinformatics and data analysis and system biololgy
• motivated with strong interest and substantial knowledge in oncology and bioinformatics
• collaborative skills are fundamental prerequisites

The position is to be filled on a full-time basis. It is limited to a duration of 3 years.Research area: The Research Group Oncoimmunology belongs to the Department of General and Visceral Surgery and is led by PD Dr. Rebecca Kesselring. Our research group addresses fundamental questions about the modulation of immune responses in the tumor microenvironment of visceral cancer. We focus on the impact of immune cells on the progression of colorectal cancer both in basic and translational research. Another key goal is to identify the impact of intestinal microbiota on pathogenesis of visceral cancer.
