Offer DescriptionApplications are invited for an appointment as postdoctoral researcher in Smart Implants in the ARC Hub for HealthTech.The postdoctoral researcher will play a critical role in advancing the commercialisation of the project Smart Surgical Mesh in the ARC-funded Translational Research Project (TP07).The Research Ireland ARC Hub for HealthTech is a collaborative initiative between the University of Galway, Atlantic Technological University and Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland, to guide academic projects in the MedTech and Connected Health sectors to commercial success on a national scale in conjunction with other Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) in the Republic of Ireland. The ARC Hub for Health Tech will support the translation of cutting-edge research into real-world applications and equip innovators with the knowledge and acumen needed to bring transformative healthcare technologies to market. The overall vision of the ARC Hub for HealthTech is to support Ireland’s Smart Specialisation Strategy (S3) and drive growth in the Northern and Western Region by creating a world-class hub that translates MedTech innovations into effective chronic disease management solutions.The ARC Hub for HealthTech is co-funded by the Government of Ireland and the European Union through the ERDF Northern & Western Regional Programme 2021-2027Where to apply WebsiteRequirementsResearch Field Engineering » Biomedical engineering Education Level PhD or equivalentSkills/QualificationsCandidates must have:PhD (or equivalent*) in Biomedical/Mechanical/Electronic/Materials Engineering or Physics or related discipline with significant experience in biomedical/medical device area.

• EU defines PhD equivalent 4 years fulltime research after primary degree

Specific Requirements

• Excellent project management, teamworking and communication skills.
• Knowledge of medical device development process (concept to prototype).
• Knowledge of regulatory pathways and market research.
• Ability to conduct stakeholder engagement, conceptual design, risk assessment, and costing.
• Specific expertise relevant to biomedical sensing and/or medical implants
