The Institute of Chemical Research of Catalonia (ICIQ) is looking for a Postdoctoral Researcher to work in Dr. Jose Berrocal’s research group. This position will be funded by ERC StG and PID.ICIQ is one of the world’s internationally recognized leading institutions in the field of chemistry committed to solving major social and economic challenges by conducting top quality research in three main areas: Sustainable Catalysis, Renewable Energy and Health. The institute also aims at training the future generation of scientists by offering high-quality educational programs to master, PhD students and postdoctoral researchers (full details on ).ICIQ is looking for a motivated Postdoctoral Researcher to work in the group of Dr. Jose Berrocal. The successful candidate will work on synthesis and mechanical characterization of photo- and mechano-responsive polymer materials.Responsibilities

• Thermal and mechanical characterization of polymer materials with dynamic mechanical analysis (DMA), tensile testing, differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), thermal gravimetric anaylsis (TGA)
• Assist the supervisor in the daily supervision of the PhD students
• Synthesis of small molecules to be used for sensing applications
• Study the photo- and mechano-responsive behavior of polymers with setups combining microtensile testing and optical probes measuring transmittance spectra
• Production of written reports and presentations to update the group/supervisor

Requirements

• PhD in Chemistry or Materials science
• Level of English equal to B2 or higher
• Prior experience with small reparation of laboratory instrumentations
• Ability to work independently and in teams

We offer:

• A 3-year full-time position.
• Remuneration according to individual’s qualifications/experience
• Annual salary split in twelve monthly payments
• Incorporation: May 2025.
