IQS – Universitat Ramon Llull
The University Ramon Llull is a confederation of schools, faculties and departments. IQS is its oldest founding member and consists of two major schools, the School of Engineering and the School of Management that form each an administrative grouping of departments and other institutions among which there are three strategic academic divisions: IQS Executive Education that offers cutting-edge and transformative learning experiences to business leaders; IQS Tech Transfer that promotes research with impact, innovation and technology transfer for companies and organizations and IQS Tech Factory that fosters entrepreneurship and supports the creation of new scientific-technological companies. With 100 years of teaching experience, IQS is a university center of reference, committed to donating responses to the continuum of challenges that the social, economic, technological and industrial context poses. Our mission and commitment are to cultivate individuals with values and competencies needed to flourish humanely and professionally. The project:In the framework of 3DCARTIBONE project, funded by AEI.The 3DCartiBone is a consortium project that involves Banc de Sang I Teixits (BST), Hospital Sant Joan de Deu (HSJD) and Centre CIM – UPC. The project goal is to develop and validate new SoHO bioinks capable of being applied to a new procedure for the production of patient-specific osteochondral-like bioprinted grafts enriched with multipotent mesenchymal stromal cells (MSC). This would dramatically improve surgical approach by reducing the need for harvesting costal cartilage autografts, or cartilage allografts from human cadaveric donors, solving the risks and the problems related with the donor-receptor graft matching and reducing time of surgery, patient length of stay in post-surgical admission and clinical outcomes (patient recovery). The position:To support our mission, we are seeking a PhD student with expertise in biomaterials, tissue engineering, or related fields. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in the development of bioprinted advanced therapies. Specifically, the candidate will undertake their doctoral thesis by developing a suite of bioinks based on diverse extracellular matrix components, aimed at biofabricating cellular scaffolds designed for the regeneration of articular cartilage.Conditions:
