Your Responsibilities
What you’ll do
As an Advanced Practitioner working in Prehabilitation you will be responsible for the management of a 500 patient per year caseload, supporting a variety of surgical patients in their surgical journey. You will be working to identify health risks and areas of optimisation for patients and then use these to create personalised prehabilitation plans involving exercise, dietetic and mental health support, along with providing health advice.
You will work closely with the perioperative medicine team and the preassessment nursing team to ensure patients receive a streamlined pathway to their day of surgery. Alongside this, you will be directly responsible for educating and managing a team of band 6 staff as the service develops and expands in the future.
What we’re looking for
- Knowledge and experience of the surgical pathway
- Knowledgeof potential anaesthetic risks that patients may face and the impact of health promotion
- Experience independently managing a caseload of patients
- The confidence to lead and develop a new service within a specialist environment
As this role is part of a newly created service, you’ll need to be flexible and able to think creatively to support its development and bring the most to the role. This will include offering ideas and changing processes as appropriate in order to get the most out of the role. You’ll need to work closely with the team around to make sure patients receive the best care, but you will also be expected to work independently with a case load of patients.
