GKN Automotive is part of Dowlais Group plc, a specialist engineering group focused on the automotive sector.As a Product Development Engineer with us, you will be responsible for conducting all product development related activities which includes engineering development, creation of standards for global use, documentation and reporting of development results, benchmarking of competitor products, execute work packages and provide support on for product specification, concern history, product cost analysis and work as needed with procurement and process specialists.This is not about 3D modelling – this is a role for someone who loves technology and new product introduction. We work in a highly competitive environment and all your experience until now will be invaluable as you work with the team to validate new products and support the presentation of them to customers and suppliers.We need a proactive engineer who will work with rigour to coordinate testing , ensure results match theory, and if not, be a keen problem-solver, always working towards a solution. Acting as a quasi Project Manager, you’ll identify shortcomings in existing processes, systems, and procedures, and use established change management programs to address them, escalating risk when necessary.Qualifications – We’re looking for a motivated individual who is able to;

• Use their relevant technical qualifications and expertise in product development to get results using new and advanced engineering technologies
• Sharing their knowledge with others, providing technical guidance on achieving engineering development targets using appropriate methods, tools and software for testing of theoretical analysis (stress, force and calculations)
• Develop their own capabilities by participating in assessment and development planning activities as well as formal and informal training and coaching. This curiosity will also drive you to develop and maintain an understanding of relevant technology, external regulation, and industry best practices
