NXP’s Advanced Power Systems (APS) Product Line develops and markets a broad portfolio of Power Management products and system solutions for Automotive and Industrial markets.

In this environment of rapidly growing organization, we are seeking an R&D Chief of Staff, who will report directly to the APS R&D VP and help him to coordinate and manage the essential activities of the organization while keeping him focused on strategic topics and decision-making.

As Chief of Staff, you will be playing a critical role in helping the organization to achieve its objectives by assisting the APS R&D VP in managing and organizing the day to day activities. You will be seen as the right hand person and a trusted advisor with a broad range of responsibilities.

You will be required to deal with different subjects and to bring assistance in various missions which can be very operational as well as very strategic.

This role requires a highly organized, proactive, and adaptable individual who can anticipate needs, solve complex problems, work autonomously with little direct oversight and maintain a high level of confidentiality and trustworthiness

Strong collaboration within the team will be a key element for success in the function

The job includes the following responsibilities :

  • Communicate on behalf of R&D VP, be a liaison with staff and other functional managers. Supervise and coordinate daily activities and help oversee items of high importance.
  • Assist in day-to-day tasks and various specific financial or HR matters like travel budgets, training plans, skills assessments, performance management, hiring plans, etc…
  • Respond to inquiries on behalf of R&D VP, represent him in calls or meetings where he cannot attend.
  • Help preparation of regular meetings (Staff meetings, Ops Reviews, Townhalls, workshops, …). Propose agendas and draft content
  • Prepare material for one-off topics upon demand (specific studies, surveys, etc…)
  • Help organizing team events, workshops or off-site meetings.
  • Support processes & methodologies consistency across the organization (new WoW, new templates, new tools, …)
  • Work on improving existing processes for maximum efficiency.
  • Implement relevant dashboards, define KPIs, create reporting tools and extract relevant insights to improve organization’s efficiency.
  • Identify and monitor key activities within the organization (ex: Innovation disclosures, initiatives sharing,…)
  • Generate and maintain R&D Management Agenda, communicate progress towards goals
  • Maintain updated R&D org charts
  • Maintain R&D MT repository tool (Sharepoint) structure and accesses
  • Maintain R&D resources assignment file, work with functional Mgrs to keep it up-to-date. Investigate automation options (link with SciForma, Power BI,…)
  • Drive and lead Tape Out Review calls, identify gating action items and follow-up completion. Highlight risks.
  • Maintain/upgrade key documents templates (Ops Reviews package, R&D cost estimates, TapeOut checklists,…)

Your profile:

  • Bachelor / Master’s degree in Electronics or equivalent.
  • Solid experience in the Semiconductor industry, ideally in the power management domain.
  • Good understanding of new product development flow, process technologies, R&D and business constraints. Familiar with safety standards (ISO26262).
  • Experienced in working within international and interdisciplinary teams.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Ability to communicate concisely and clearly
  • Capable of synthetizing complex problems
  • Ability to build strong, influential relationships
  • Fluent in English, both oral and written.
