Project Manager – Centre for Genomic Pathogen Surveillance

Applications are invited for a Project Manager to join the Centre for Genomic Pathogen Surveillance at the Big Data Institute, University of Oxford.

This is an exciting opportunity for a Project Manager to help further develop and deliver a Global Health Research Unit (GHRU) project focused on genomic surveillance of antimicrobial resistance (AMR) in pathogens for the Centre for Genomic Pathogen Surveillance (CGPS). CGPS is a dynamic research group committed to supporting the global need for increased pathogenic surveillance, specifically in relation to antimicrobial resistance. The group has developed several leading web applications used by researchers and public health officials across the globe.  You will be responsible for delivering on all aspects of project management across the project, both in the UK and across our international collaborators, to ensure that all consortium project deliverables are met, and to enable the CGPS to continue its mission of delivering real-world impact in global health. This will also entail cross-collaboration and input into other relevant activities within CGPS aligned to strategic vision.

It is essential that you are educated to an undergraduate level with an excellent track record of managing and delivering successfully scientific research projects or hold a PhD in a relevant area of research and with a demonstrable sufficient experience in managing and coordinating complex scientific projects successfully. You will have the ability to demonstrate leadership of large and complex projects, for example, with multiple stakeholders, budgets exceeding £1m, long time-frames, and regulatory complexity. The ability and willingness to work independently, to support and supervise others as may be necessary, and to work effectively as part of a cross-functional team is also required. You will be an experienced project manager familiar with both agile and waterfall project management methodologies with the ability to inspire, motivate and lead project staff across multiple stakeholders/ jurisdictions.
