The Culture and Emergencies Entity (CLT/CEM) of the UNESCO Culture Sector acts as the Secretariat of the 1954 Convention for the protection of Cultural Property in the Event of Armed Conflict and its two (1954 & 1999) protocols, the 1970 Convention on the Means of Prohibiting and Preventing the Illicit Import, Export and Transfer of Ownership of Cultural Property and the 2001 Convention on the Protection of the Underwater Cultural Heritage, and is also in charge of the 2015 Recommendation on the Protection and Promotion of Museums and Collections, their Diversity and their Role in Society . In addition, it is responsible for Emergency Preparedness and Response in the area of culture, coordinating the implementation of the 2015 Strategy for the reinforcement of UNESCO’s action to protect culture and promote cultural pluralism in the event of armed conflict and in emergencies associated with disasters caused by natural and human-induced hazards.
Under the overall authority of the Assistant Director-General for Culture (ADG/CLT) and the direct supervision of the Director of the Culture and Emergencies Entity of the Culture Sector (DIR/CEM), the incumbent shall contribute to the implementation, monitoring and reporting on programmes and projects undertaken by the Culture and Emergencies Entity (CLT/CEM).

UNESCO’s salaries consist of a basic salary and other benefits which may include if applicable: 30 days annual leave, family allowance, medical insurance, pension plan etc.
The approximate annual starting salary for this post is 104 581 US $.
