We are looking for an enthusiastic, self-motivated Regional Technical Lead who can inspire and motivate a team of dedicated professionals to respond to the engineering needs required to support volunteers & staff in saving lives at sea, maintaining some of the most prestigious and technologically advanced equipment at the RNLI.About the roleAs part of the Regional Leadership Team (RLT) you will provide leadership, guidance, and direction to ensure Lifesaving Operations delivers its core service in a safe, efficient, and effective manner. You will be a role model of RNLI leadership to all staff and volunteers in the region, responsible for leading teams who deliver technical and engineering support.Responsibilities will include:

• Demonstrating the highest levels of collaborative working and collective responsibility, by being an active member of the Regional Leadership Team and its planning function, providing cover for other leadership roles as required.
• Delivering preventive & corrective maintenance to all assets in the Region, meeting the RNLI’s equipment standards.
• Ensuring compliance with internal and external standards, policies, and procedures, by working collaboratively to identify and manage risk to safety, health, and environment.
• Ensuring delivery to budget and managing capacity within the regional team by managing people and resources to ensure the delivery of the regional plan.

The role will also involve travel across the region, and occasionally the wider RNLI, to include occasional nights away and supporting an on call / duty rota.About youWe are looking for someone who is an effective self-motivated team player, with a strong and broad engineering background, with good communication and influencing skills to bring people together behind a single plan.We are looking for someone with

• An engineering degree qualification equivalent to the England, Wales, Scotland & Northern Ireland qualification level 6 or higher as defined by UK Government or MCA Class 1 or RN Charge certificate or equivalent relevant experience. Republic of Ireland (ROI) qualification STCW 95 Class 1 or INS In-Charge certificate. ROI NFQ Level 7 in an engineering discipline. Other relevant qualifications may be considered.
• Considerable engineering and asset management experience, ideally in a marine environment.
• The ability to lead teams, their associated budgets and project delivery.
• The ability to influence strategic decisions, working with other disciplines and departments, both internally and externally.
• It would also be desirable to have relevant H&S qualification – IOSH, NEBOSH or equivalent and relevant audit qualification.
