University of Bath
We are seeking an outstanding researcher to join our team on a full time (36.5 hours per week), fixed term basis until September 2024.
About the role:
As an integral part of the Discribe team, you will support the work of our Expert Fellow, Prof. Brandon-Jones , in helping to understand, predict and support the adoption of new secure technology across organisations and their supply networks.
This research will be focused on barriers to – and enablers of – large scale shifts in adoption of operational technology by researching and writing case studies of previous large scale shifts in the ways in which industries work. For instance, we are interested in understanding how the adoption of blockchain within the shipping industry (e.g. TradeLens) might inform how other new technological innovations are adopted within different sectors.
The ideal applicant will be familiar with a variety of methodologies and have an interest in digital transformation and security of operations and supply networks, plus a willingness to work with the wider team from different disciplinary backgrounds. You will have a background in management / business studies and/or operations / technology / innovation.
A first degree in Business, Management, Technology Studies, Economics or related discipline is a requirement, and a PhD is required for the Research Associate position.
Some experience of / or an interest in digital technology and security would be an advantage.
The ESRC Digital Security by Design Social Science (Discribe) Hub+ is a collaboration between the Universities of Bath, Bristol, Cardiff and Royal Holloway, University of London that seeks to support the wider £187m Digital Security by Design programme while challenging and developing our ideas about cybersecurity – both now and in the future.
Launched in September 2020 with £3.5m funding from UKRI and DCMS , the Discribe Hub+ is developing a vision of a secure digital future based on the adoption at scale of new technologies that will make our work and social lives in cyberspace more secure (https://www.discribehub.org/ )
