Applications are invited for the role of Research Associate in Material Properties, to contribute to cutting-edge research conducted within the Experimental Mechanics of Advanced Materials Group (EMAM) and the Centre for Device Thermography and Reliability (CDTR) in the University of Bristol’s School of Physics.
The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in advancing our understanding of material behaviour under extreme conditions.
The position has funding for one year in the first instance.
The successful candidate will conduct multi length-scale characterisation of the nano-/microstructure as well as the thermal and mechanical properties of advanced materials. They will also use advanced in situ techniques to investigate the failure mechanisms of the materials when tested under extreme conditions. Within this role, various classes of materials may be explored, including nuclear and aerospace materials.
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to pioneer innovative approaches to material characterization, paving the way for advancements in fields ranging from hydrogen powered flight to small modular nuclear reactors.
This position offers a unique chance to work at the forefront of experimental mechanics and contribute to groundbreaking discoveries with real-world impact.
