This is a rewarding and challenging role in Research Services, leading a team of research development officers and working in close partnership with two academic Faculties. This post is offered on a full-time indefinite basis; applicants interested in a part-time or job share basis will be considered.
You must have an excellent understanding of the current UK research funding landscape and of research development with extensive experience supporting academic colleagues in their pursuit of research funding. You will ensure there is appropriate support for research across the Faculties which includes supporting University and faculty research strategies, development of high quality proposals and wider development events and workshops.
You will be a creative and strategic manager with an aptitude for problem solving and a high level of organisational and management skills, with experience of supporting, motivating and developing teams and ensuring workloads are prioritised and managed.
You will have excellent communication skills and be able to communicate complex ideas to a wide range of people. You will have the ability to build up successful relationships and networks with academics and professional staff to provide an integrated support service for research. This will require you to work effectively as part of dynamic teams that can operate successfully in a complex and changing environment in order to multi-task and to meet deadlines and service standards.
You must be well-organised and possess the ability to work effectively under pressure with poise and professionalism. Experience of reviewing, advising on or assisting in the development of research funding applications within an academic environment is desirable.

Research Services
The Research Services is part of Lancaster University’s Research and Enterprise Services Division and plays a key role in helping the University achieve our strategic goals by providing expert advice, guidance and administrative support to the University’s research community in the development of bids for externally funded research. The Research Services teams provide a range of research development and support activities including proposal development and preparation, advice on funders, costing and pricing, impact, ethics and post-award grant administration.
