Research Fellow (106096-0223)

Fixed-term contract for 30 months, 0.6 FTE.

This is an exciting opportunity for a Post-Doctoral Researcher to be part of a research team at the University of Warwick’s Criminal Justice Centre (CJC) and Law School (WLS). This position is available on a Leverhulme Trust Research Project titled: ‘The Vulnerable State: Appraising the Ambivalent Economies of State Power’. We are seeking candidates with a PhD, or if close to submission, the role would begin as a grade 5 Research Assistant, with promotion to grade 6 upon conferral of the PhD award.

We are seeking research expertise in Law, Sociology, Anthropology, Politics, or Criminology, which are topics covered by the project (see below).The successful applicant will work closely with the Principal Investigator, Professor Ana Aliverti, and Co-Investigators, Drs Henrique Carvalho and Anastasia Chamberlen to provide intellectual and research-based support, and to deliver project objectives across data collection, analysis and the dissemination of outputs.

The successful candidate will be central to the project, working as part of a team, and independently, towards their own deadlines and long-term planning schedules. For the project to run smoothly and on schedule it is important that the Researcher can use their own initiative and judgement regarding day-to-day tasks.

Previous experience of working in a higher education setting, of using qualitative analysis software (such as NVivo or Atlas.ti) and in managing external funded projects and budgets would be an advantage. An interest and expertise in criminal justice and immigration justice, and training in discourse and/or visual analysis are essential.
