About usThis vacancy sits within the Institute for Sustainable Resources (ISR) within the Bartlett School of Environment, Energy, and Resources in the newly created Centre for Net Zero Market Design. The UCL Centre for Net Zero Market Design provides independent, evidence-based analysis to inform policies for a rapidly decarbonising UK energy system, with stakeholder engagement to support delivery of an investible market and efficient operation for business and consumers.About the roleThe successful candidate will work with Dr. Malte Jansen and the team from the Centre for Net Zero Market Design to advance high quality and policy-relevant research, with activities including:
Engagement and networking activities: Actively contribute and engage with the BSEER community, participating in in-person and virtual events such as the Sustainable Higher Education Initiative, ISR in Conversations, and ISR seminar series, among othersManagement and citizenship roles: Attend relevant academic and coordination meetings Commit to advancing equality, diversity, and inclusivity for staff and students.This post has funding until the 30 November 2026 in the first instance; further funding to support the post may become available.Shortlisting will take place from the 26 August and interviews are expected to be held on the 05 September 2025.A job description and person specification can be accessed at the bottom of this page. This is dependent on the post and candidate meeting eligibility requirements for visa sponsorship under UK Visas and Immigration legislation.About you The ideal candidate will hold a PhD or equivalent experience in a quantitative field relevant to the research focus, such as economics, data science, energy policy, environmental sustainability, or a closely related discipline. They will also hold specialised knowledge or research experience in one or more of the following: energy systems, distributional impacts of policies, socio-economic modelling, or quantitative policy evaluation.
