This is new role within the expanding Research Office at the School of Management. We have ambitious plans to increase our research income, and this role is crucial in achieving this. We are looking for someone who can become an expert in relevant funding sources, and who can work with faculty members and other Professional Service colleagues to support the development of high quality bids.

The ideal candidate will have experience working within a research administration role in a higher education institution, and have a good understanding of the research funding landscape, with a good comprehension of the FEC model of funding and how costings are put together. You’ll also be adept at comprehending complex information and be able to communicate clearly, particular in relation to call documents and funder requirements.  You will work with a large proportion of our faculty, from Early Career researchers through to established Professors. You will also work across multiple Professional service teams including the School Research Office, the Dean’s Office, the Pre-Award team, Research Development Team and Contracts team within the University Research and Innovation Service (RIS). You will therefore need to have exceptional interpersonal skills. The role requires a candidate who can juggle a varied workload and respond quickly to new opportunities. You’ll need excellent time management and organisational skills.

Whilst this is a busy role, you will not be carrying out this work alone. You will be surrounded by a busy and dynamic research office team, and will be supported by senior members of staff who are keen to see increasing success in our research grants income. You will also work closely with a central RIS team who have a wealth of experience and expertise in research funding.

For an informal discussion about the role, please contact Amanda Willmott, Head of Research Operations, [email protected] however please ensure that you submit your application through the University website.
