We are currently seeking a fixed-term Research Officer for 3 years to work on a project entitled Glucocorticoid Receptor (GR) Modulation in Gynaecological Cancers.
The successful applicant, you will join a vibrant, friendly team to work on a project that is focused on investigating the benefits of GR modulators used in combination with standard chemotherapy and immunotherapy agents. You will be expected to work to produce independent research, deliver the scientific aims of the project and contribute to the submission of publications to refereed journals. You will also be expected to assist in student supervision.
There is emerging evidence that modulation of the GR can improve prognosis in patients and overcome resistance. However, the role of GR modulators on tumour survival and patient prognosis is not well understood in gynaecological cancers. Furthermore, the benefit of GR modulators either alone or together with chemotherapeutic and newer immune modulators needs to be tested. In this project, the candidate will test the use of relacorilant and CORT125326 in breast, ovarian and endometrial cancers. This is a translational project, and the candidate will make use of in vitro and in vivo models of gynaecological cancers, and patient-derived organoid models.
This role is a great opportunity to develop your career and support research in the area of cancer. Candidates must have some research experience/expertise and developing further skills in and knowledge of research methods and techniques ideally a postgraduate qualification/PhD or an equivalent level of professional experience in an aligned subject area associated with cell biology and have experience in cell culture and standard molecular biology techniques. Pre-clinical work is preferable.
