We are looking for a highly self-motivated and flexible individual with a positive approach to work within a multi-institution and multi-disciplinary research project (DRUID: Drivers and Repercussions of UK Insect Declines), based here at Leeds.
The project brings together researchers from the UK Centre for Ecology and Hydrology, Rothamsted Research, the University of Reading, and several departments across the University of Leeds, to test for patterns of insect population and biodiversity change, assess likely causes and consequences, and model the impact of future mitigation actions.
Your primary role would be to expedite the administration and coordination of the research project, working closely with the project’s Principle Investigator (Prof. William Kunin). You would help schedule and organise meetings, assist with project logistics (e.g. room booking, travel arrangements), distribute meeting documents and take minutes. You would also assist the project team in compiling materials for periodic reports to research funders (NERC) and stakeholders. You could also be involved in posting project-related news and materials on the project website and social media.
You will need strong administrative and communication skills, the ability to complete tasks quickly and to a high standard, and to have an organised and flexible approach to work. The role is very part-time (8% FTE; roughly 12 hours per month on average), but the work would be spread unevenly across the year, being concentrated around periodic meetings and reporting requirements. Some of the work could be performed remotely, and an ability to work with minimal supervision while supporting the project Principle Investigator and management committee is also required.
