Join our organic chemistry team! You will be the second scientist in our team, working alongside two dedicated laboratory technicians. Based in the Department of Enzymology, Substrates & Assays, you will support Novonesis’ R&D projects with in-house syntheses, analytical tasks, purifications, and provide expert consultation on organic chemistry.Expect to dive into a variety of exciting tasks including, but not limited to, the synthesis of small molecules used in enzymatic assays, the design of new non-conventional assays, bioconjugation and immobilization, fractionation and characterization of natural substrates, the studying of enzyme-substrate interactions, and generally contribute to our research projects with molecular understanding from an organic chemistry perspective where your contributions will bring valuable molecular insights to our research projects. As part of a small agile team, the ideal candidate will be motivated to take on tasks within all mentioned fields and you will have the opportunity to grow your expertise across multiple fields.Welcome to Enzymology, Substrates & AssaysThe department consists of 24 scientists and technicians located in our Innovation Campus in Lyngby. The department has a strong science focus and builds on values characterized by passion, experience, and professionalism. We are organized into specialized teams being an enzymology team, an assay team, and the organic chemistry team. Further, we also work in cross-departmental teams in an agile setup where we use our different competences to drive and support innovation projects. We contribute to new product development by generating and sharing innovative ideas, building application relevant screening assays, understanding complex substrate/enzymes interactions and through in-depth knowledge help guide enzyme candidate selection in projects. By covering a wide range of industries, this position enables you to contribute to the development of sustainable products for diverse applications such as food, dairy, baking, human health, bioenergy, and household care.In this role you’ll make an impact by:Working on parallel research projects by being part of a project team with chemists and laboratory technicians across departments and countries. It is expected that you thrive on managing several tasks at the same timeExploring and developing new technologies in-house or via external collaborations, where your collaborative mindset and learning capability are crucialBeing a strong team player who can independently plan and execute analyses in the laboratoryIdentifying areas where your skillset can have an impact in the niche area of organic chemistry at Novonesis, build a network and initiate collaborationsTo succeed you must have:A PhD in organic chemistry or a Master’s degree with equivalent work experienceStrong scientific background with critical thinking skills and ability to formulate ideas for experiments from diverse data/knowledge inputs and application/business relevant project needsA “go do it” attitude, translating to hands-on laboratory work, independently and together with lab techniciansStrong communication skills, an open-minded and positive attitude, and a desire to achieve results together with othersAdditional we expect you to be a team player and to be fluent in English as you will work closely with colleagues of many different nationalities.It is an advantage if you have:Knowledge and working experience with enzymes and assaysHands-on experience with running and maintaining analytical instruments, including NMR, LC-MS, and GCAre you our next colleague in our team?
