Of particular interest are the theoretical and methodological insights pertaining to openness, boundaries, censorship and regulations in response to the questions: How knowledge becomes valuable, marginalised, neglected, blocked, or kept secret? Does open research infrastructure lead to epistemic diversity or epistemic injustice?The research scientist will be one of a team of researchers, including one other postdoctoral research scientist and a PhD candidate, all working under the guidance and supervision of the PI. The team will meet regularly, and team members are expected to work on campus when they are not collecting data on site.In addition to the mandatory CV/Resume listed on the online application system, candidates must include in their cover letter a 300-500 word description of their interest in open research infrastructure in Latin America.Particular to this position: Willingness to travel and conduct independent field work and/or archival research and disseminate research findings at seminars, workshops, and conferences in Ireland and internationally.Fixed Salary: €54,965 Per AnnumClosing date: 12:00 noon (local Irish time) on the 23rd of May 2025.Applications must be submitted by the closing date and time specified. *Research experience on topics related to the project.
*Experience or demonstrable potential in producing high-quality research publications.
*Experience in qualitative research methods, including managing, assessing, analysing and making substantive and evidenced conclusions from large volumes of archival and qualitative data.
*Ability and availability to independently travel and stay in selected research sites as required for data collection.
*Ability to work independently as well as within a team.
*Candidates must demonstrate an awareness of equality, diversity and inclusion agenda.Desirable:*A good knowledge of open research infrastructure: history, policy and technical standards.
*Linguistic competency in languages associated with the case study.
*Experience in using and constructing web archives.
