The department is one of the larger and fastest growing clinical respiratorydepartments in the country and as such you will be joining a dynamic and close-knit team of 24 Respiratory Consultants. The department prides itself on being innovative and progressive, and at the cutting edge of respiratory service delivery across numerous sub-specialities.Main duties of the job

• Maintenance of the highest clinical standards in the management of a Respiratory Service.
• To share with colleagues responsibility for the day-to-day management and provision of a high quality, consultant-led Respiratory Medicine service.
• Teaching & training of junior medical staff, and medical students.
• To actively participate in both departmental & Trust matters concerning Clinical Governance & To have responsibility for ensuring active participation in continuing medical education (CME).

• MBBS/MBCH & possess MRCP
• Evidence of entry on GMC Specialist Register in Respiratory Medicine and General (Internal) Medicine OR Have CCT or be within 6 months of attaining CCT at time of interview
• Evidence that the GMC is processing the Specialist Registration application (MUST be provided prior to interview)

Desirable

• Higher degree / MD / PhD
• Level 1 accreditation in thoracic ultrasound

Clinical ExperienceEssential

• 5 years of supervised training in an appropriate StR equivalent training programme, together with a high standard of clinical skills and expertise in general medicine
• Evidence of ability to work effectively as part of a multi- disciplinary team & share clinical responsibilities

Desirable

• Evidence of having developed a subspecialty interest

Management & TeachingEssential

• Experience of audit management
• Experience of & commitment to teaching undergraduates & postgraduates
• Experience of research in clinical practice

Desirable

• Evidence of training in clinical teaching methods
• Publications in peer- reviewed journals
• Experience of enrolling & consenting patients into trials; ICH-GCP qualification
