Sales Finance Intern

About our group:

Within the Sales Finance and Marketing group, the Collections Department focuses on maximizing collections in a timely manner and in accordance with the Company’s policies while maintaining excellent relationship with our customers. Maintaining a high level of cash-flow through collection activities and monitoring and managing of collection risk and opportunities are some of our primary responsibilities. Another important task is to predict the future expected cash from Collections. The Collections Team is based in both Amsterdam and Singapore to cover all collections globally. Our Company is one of Fortune’s List of World’s Most Admired Companies in 2021. 

About the role – you will:

• This is an internship on a project basis for a 3-month period.
• The goal of the project is to improve our ability to forecast the expected cash to be received in the future.
• The project will be divided in 3 parts:
• To work with all Collectors globally to understand their current process on how to forecast expected cash to be received, based on open AR. Document the process, identify best in class processes and make recommendations to improve.
• To work with other teams within Seagate and obtain their data to understand elements that influence future expected cash to be received, that is not based on the current AR (new shipments, expected shipments, expected rebates, early payments, pull-ins, etc.)
• Enhance the existing model to combine data of both 1) and 2) and improve our ability to predict future cash received.
• There will be close communication and collaboration within the global collections team and other teams at Seagate.
• You will be supported by the Director of Sales Finance, based in France.

About you:

• Able to communicate fluently in English including writing, understanding, and reading.
• Eager to learn and curious about Finance topics.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to notice discrepancies in data.
• Good analytical skills.
• Possess a process improvement mindset with a desire to consistently look for ways to improve efficiency and service while maintaining a “big picture” perspective

Your experience includes:

Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Power Point)

You May Also Have:

• Ability to effectively manage competing deadlines for projects, with varying degrees of supervision
• Familiarity with SAP system
• Worked in larger scale corporations that have presence worldwide.
