T he Role: 293048 Senior Director Sector Lead / Sovereign Ratings EMEA


*The Team: *   

The Sovereign Ratings team has about 100 analysts based across the world. In EMEA our sovereign analysts are based in London, Madrid, Paris, Frankfurt, Stockholm, Johannesburg, and Dubai. In your role you will work directly with the Global Analytical Head of the practice as well as with a group of peers that oversee similar portfolios in APAC and the Americas.   

*The Impact: *   

As a subject matter expert, the Sector Lead plays a key role in driving the analytics of the asset class interacting with the entire analytical group of the practice in the region as well as with your peers globally and across practices. In addition, you will also play a role in coaching and developing junior analysts and will be instrumental in assisting to build a market leading team.

What’s *in it for you: *   

You will be a key and instrumental participant of the Global Sovereign AOCC providing guidance and role modelling on analytical judgement, criteria, and overall guidance for the practice.

Finally, this role requires to be comfortable coordinating work across a number of teams within S&P in an environment, which stimulates continuous improvement, innovation and the highest customer service standards, whilst adhering to established ratings criteria, methodology, policies, and regulation. 


*Responsibilities: *   

  • In addition to being the primary analyst for a small group of high-profile Sovereign Credits; the sector leads exercise oversight of the overall portfolio of credits on their region and are responsible to ensure that the global credit view is incorporated in our ratings with accuracy and in a consistent manner.

  • Be a regular external speaker and the key point of contact for outreach and to carry the S&P message to the market, ensuring relevance and timelines.

  • Develop key topics on research publications, identifying with a forward and insightful mindset trends and market dynamics that will have an impact in our ratings.

  • Be a key member of the ratings surveillance process, covering the roles of primary analyst, back up, voter and/or chair for the practice committees globally.

  • Be an active and key member of the Global Sovereign AOCC as well as the regional CCC’s and ensure the flow of information in and out of the practice works smoothly and effectively.

  • Commitment tocross practice collaboration as well as participation in several, research labs, forums and research task forces to produce the highest level of analysis.

  • Support, coach and train more junior analyst in the practice helping them to build the right set of skills and capabilities needed.

What We’re Looking For:   

  • Ideally hold a post-graduate qualification or equivalent in a relevant subject such as economics, finance, or equivalent experience.

  • An employee here at S&P Global would typically have 10+ years’ of hands-on analytical experience in a relevant financial institution, or a credit/research environment ideally analysing sovereign governments at this level.

  • Proactive with ability to manage multiple tasks and a busy environment.

  • Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills

  • The successful incumbent will be fluent in English. Additionallanguageswould be desirable but are not a prerequisite.

Grade Level : Grade 14 (for internal purposes)
