Description

Job Purpose

AXA EssentiALL is the Group’s global inclusive insurance business unit, currently protecting circa 14 million low-to-middle income customers across Asia, Africa and Latin America, and more recently France and European Markets.

This role is has 2 key pillars.

As an executive assistant / chief of staff, the person will be tasked with supporting the AXA EssentiALL CEO in her executive responsibilities as well as in her board administrator roles. This includes summarizing main issues of board papers, managing governance and preparing meetings, structuring & preparing internal and external presentations & briefs, managing specific ad-hoc projects, etc.

As a senior advocacy & outreach manager, the person will drive AXA’s positioning, internally and externally, as an inclusive insurance leader through thought leadership, advocacy and outreach. It will also focus on animating the AXA EC community worldwide to facilitate knowledge sharing and replication. It will ensure that the team’s work is top of mind for our target stakeholders both external (private sector partners, financial inclusion/ESG/social impact actors, donors, multilaterals, governments) and internal (top leadership, transversal teams/professional families, entity leadership, transversal teams, local entities etc).

Key figures on AXA EssentiALL at end 2023:

  • Circa 14 million customers covered and EUR 250m GWP in 14 emerging markets (the numbers for European markets are not yet published)
  • A community of inclusive insurance experts globally and in 20 markets – emerging and European
  • A vault of use cases, impact studies, and consumer research that makes AXA EssentiALL one of the most knowledgeable actors in inclusive insurance in the industry

Key KPIs / figures of this specific role:

  • Fine-tuning a clear and structured positioning & advocacy action plan: content, format, channels, stakeholders, time-line
  • Producing content pieces (written, video, podcasts, post etc.), including by managing when necessary external consultants focused on producing long form content, and measuring the visibility achieved on priority channels
  • Positioning AXA EssentiALL in key inclusive insurance forums and events to promote best practices, regulatory change and drive visibility in inclusive insurance
  • Driving longer-term thought leadership / research projects on inclusive insurance, for example in collaboration with the AXA Research Fund, the Communications team, the Sustainability team
  • Animating the AXA EssentiALL community and enabling multi-lateral and bilateral exchanges to maximize replication of successful models
  • Executing an annual budget to achieve the above
  • Executive assistant / chief of staff: summarizing main issues of board papers, managing governance and preparing meetings, structuring internal and external presentations & briefs, managing specific ad-hoc projects

In 2016, AXA launched AXA Emerging Customers, a business dedicated to scaling up inclusive insurance solutions for the emerging middle class across Asia, Africa and Latin America. The specific protection needs of this new client segment has led us to reinvent insurance by simplifying products (focused on health, protection and property), building technology partnerships, and tying up with innovative distribution channel partnerships to better serve our clients. At end-2023, this initiative protected over 14m million clients, contributing to financial inclusion and sustainable development through a business approach. Our impact studies back-up our vision, we are developing valuable solutions that are making communities more resilient to financial shocks derived from the unexpected.

As companies are increasingly challenged by regulators, investors and other stakeholders to demonstrate positive social and environmental outcomes, Inclusive Insurance is developing an increasing significant voice in AXA’s Strategy and overall strategic narrative, and is now a formal part of the Unlock the Future 24-26 strategy. This is a unique opportunity to build an advocacy & communications engine that supports this longer-term ambition.

The challenge at hand is to produce impactful and differentiating content through a variety of channels by working with AXA’s community of inclusive insurance experts to reinforce the company’s voice across multiple platforms and thus our positioning as a leader in Inclusive Insurance. This has been done on an ad-hoc basis up until now, and the person occupying this position will be in charge of making this more structured, systematic and strategic.

The second pillar of this job will be about supporting the AXA EssentiALL CEO on a daily basis to make time, information, and decision-making more effective, prioritize projects, significantly contributing to reaching the team’s objectives.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Executive assistant / chief of staff: help the AXA EssentiALL CEO oversee operations and achieve global objectives by preparing meetings, structuring briefs and presentations, acting as liaison with key stakeholders, closing communication gaps, managing specific ad-hoc projects etc.
  • Set and manage AXA EssentiALL’s advocacy strategy, channels and budget with AXA EssentiALL’s CEO
  • Identify critical public events and internal forums for AXA EssentiALL’s voice to be heard
  • Hire and manage agencies and contractors, if and when pertinent
  • Coordinate content and asset creation with global team, contractors and partners
  • Own editorial responsibility for assets & content in AXA EssentiALL channels
  • Highlight AXA EssentiALL content to be promoted in other AXA Group channels
  • Manage presentation materials (decks/videos)
  • Collaborate with the AXA Group Communications & Brand and Sustainability teams and relevant local AXA entity teams/peers

Qualifications

Professional and technical skills

  • 6-8 years work experience in a multi-cultural context, within the AXA Group a plus
  • Flawless English – both written and spoken; French, Spanish & others a bonus
  • Good business acumen, genuine interest in financial inclusion / social impact / ESG topics. Experience in this field a strong plus
  • Content-driven, real desire to have an in-depth understanding of the content at hand
  • Skills in project management
  • Ability to write and review articles and other written content in English a must
  • Experience in preparing presentations that combine quantitative and qualitative analyses and recommendations
  • Strong knowledge of social networks
  • MS Office: Word, PowerPoint

Interpersonal skills

  • Ability to navigate an international and dynamic environment, where everything is not always set in stone and structured;
  • Results-oriented; ability to work in an international team, autonomously;
  • She/he should also have excellent organizational skills and an ability to rapidly create collaborative relations across the Group
  • Ability to interact with and influence executive stakeholders, as well as build executive level presentations
  • Ability to manage external contractors, as well as to lead by influence vis-à-vis internal stakeholders
