We are seeking a Parkinson’s Disease and Movement Disorders Clinical Neurologist, to work in this exciting combined clinical and academic post. The post holder’s duties will be primarily at the Horton General and John Radcliffe Hospitals, but it is a condition of the appointment that the post-holder will be willing to work in any of the Trust’s locations. It is expected that the post-holder will have expertise in general neurology, as shown by previous experience in doing clinics for general neurology and working within a multidisciplinary team. The post-holder will also have broad experience in all aspects of neurology, and will deliver one weekly consultant general neurology, Parkinson’s and Movement Disorders clinic at the Horton General Hospital, Banbury.

The post holder will also support and work effectively with the OUHFT PD and Movement Disorders team, including PD specialist Nurses, Consultants and attendance at the monthly PD MDT meeting.  OUHFT is a teaching hospital trust, and the post-holder will be required to participate in programmes for teaching clinical students, training junior doctors and in clinical examinations. It is expected that this will be an integral part of everyday clinical activity.

The successful candidate will hold a medical degree, MRCP or equivalent and full GMC registration, on the GMC specialist register for neurology. They will also have experience of diagnosis and treatment of Movement Disorders at consultant level, including DBS, atypical parkinsonian disorders, Parkinson’s Disease and Movement Disorders. It is desirable that the candidate has prior clinical experience in sleep medicine, with related specialist certification as well as established research interest with publications in scientific/medical journals.

The post is fixed term until 31st March 2025 in the first instance.
