Senior Cloud Architect
As a Senior Cloud Architect, you will shape and evolve Lundbeck’s global cloud foundations and landing zones in a multi-region environment supporting workloads across our global footprint. You will work across AWS (primary) and Azure, ensuring our cloud platforms are secure, scalable, cost-efficient, and fit for regulated use.
Your new role
You will have responsibility for the architectural direction of our cloud foundations and be hands-on in areas such as automation, reusable modules and security. You will be part of a team of skilled infrastructure and cloud architects and collaborate with internal teams and external vendors to design and implement cloud infrastructure solutions that support our business needs.
Key responsibilities include:
Cloud landing zones & foundations
-Evolve our cloud landing zones and foundations across AWS and Azure, including patterns for multi-region deployments and integration with on-premises data centers.
-Design and enhance core shared cloud capabilities such as identity management, cloud networking including SD-WAN connectivity and backup, making it easy for teams to adopt cloud safely.
Guardrails, governance, security & compliance
-Define and implement guardrails and governance in collaboration with Cyber Security and IT QA, aiming for automated guardrails (policy-as-code) wherever possible.
-Promote security- and compliance-by-design cloud practices in collaboration with Cyber Security and IT QA.
Enablement through reusable building blocks
-Create reference architectures, templates, and reusable modules (IaC/automation) that enable product and platform teams to build consistently and securely.
Operating model & delivery management
-Help define the operating model for cloud foundations (KPIs, runbooks, support processes) and lead a structured handover to an external operational partner, while retaining ownership of cloud architecture and roadmap.
-Plan and govern deliveries from consultants and vendors, including scope, milestones and financial follow-up.
Cost transparency & architecture community leadership
-Mentor other infrastructure and cloud architects on best practices for cloud foundation and cloud infrastructure architecture.
-Drive cost transparency and platform efficiency by establishing cost guardrails and advising teams on cost-efficient architectures in close collaboration with the Global IT Cloud Capacity Manager.
-Act as a key contributor in the department architecture meetings and advise system owners and cloud users across the organization.
Your future team
As a member of Global IT, you will join a dynamic and diverse organization of 140 global colleagues. We provide a wide range of IT services and ensure secure, efficient operations for over 5000 colleagues across all business units and geographies.
You will report to the Head of Infrastructure Architecture and be part of a department of 7 infrastructure and cloud architects. The position is based at Lundbeck’s headquarters in Valby, Copenhagen. We offer flexible working arrangements and a hybrid setup, balancing time on-site in Valby with working from home.
What you bring to the team
To succeed in this role, we imagine you possess a strong technical foundation and the ability to navigate a complex, global organization. We are looking for a candidate who is passionate about designing robust cloud platforms and who embraces the collaborative culture at Lundbeck.
Your qualifications and experience:
Cloud foundations & architecture
-Several years of experience in IT infrastructure, with strong focus on cloud architecture and the continuous evolution of cloud landing zones and shared services.
-Hands-on experience designing and governing AWS Control Tower and/or Azure CAF (or similar) landing zones, including multi-account/subscription patterns.
Automation & engineering practices
-Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform, CloudFormation and/or Bicep, ideally integrated with CI/CD and policy-as-code.
Infrastructure & security
-Solid understanding of cloud network design, on-premises connectivity (including SD-WAN) and DNS, and cloud-native security controls such as identity management and network segmentation/firewalling.
-Broad infrastructure understanding (identity, networking, storage, compute, logging/monitoring, backup/DR) and the ability to turn this into reliable patterns for product teams.
Collaboration & vendor delivery
-Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to mentor other architects, align decisions with Cyber Security and IT QA and drive a clear architecture roadmap.
-Experience managing external deliveries end-to-end – requirements, milestones, quality and financial follow-up – and ensuring outcomes fit Lundbeck standards.
It is an advantage if you have:
-Experience working in regulated or quality-driven environments – pharma is preferred, but other regulated industries are also relevant.
-Relevant cloud certifications (e.g., AWS Solutions Architect Professional or Azure Solutions Architect Expert).
-Familiarity with DevOps and FinOps practices (e.g., CI/CD enablement using GitHub Actions, cost governance).
-Experience or exposure to distributed hybrid infrastructure / on-premises cloud extensions (e.g., AWS Outposts or Azure Local).
-Knowledge of Palo Alto Cortex Cloud (formerly Prisma Cloud) or similar cloud security posture/compliance tooling.
