Senior Counsel, Environmental Sustainability in France

This role will provide legal support globally in environmental sustainability, manufacturing facilities, and product environmental regulatory matters, while keeping business unit(s) management and Law Department management fully advised of all significant developments concerning all material matters in a timely fashion.

In this Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be:

• Provides advice to the relevant business unit(s) on a broad spectrum of environmental-related legal issues using independent analysis and supports Emerson’s Facilities and Product global Environmental teams by:

• monitoring, analyzing and communicating the requirements of new and changing environmental and materials & substance restrictions regulations globally under such laws as REACH, ROHS, WEEE, Prop 65, Eco Design, PFAS, TSCA, EPR, Packaging, Plastics, Recycling, Waste, CBAM, and Batteries;

• handling and collaborating closely with outside counsel as needed;

• building and providing substantive legal training;

• handling governmental, supplier and customer inquiries and investigations

• Support Emerson’s Environmental teams through commercial and regulatory legal work associated with environmental projects, including: negotiating contracts with vendors, reviewing state consent decrees, handling legal issue escalations and managing outside counsel where needed.

• Provide subject matter expertise support for the commercial and supply chain groups regarding contract clause negotiation, review Emerson marketing materials with respect to environmental sustainability issues and facilitate responses to subject matter customer inquiries.

• May directly coordinate and otherwise lead a regional team of legal professionals, supporting their individual improvement, project management and program execution;

• Supports the Legal team in:

• providing legal support to potentially impactful proposed environmental regulations – for example, emerging PFAS EU, federal, state and local rules;

• providing legal review of voluntary and required disclosures related to materials, substance restrictions, carbon and other sustainability initiatives Implementing corporate policies throughout all applicable divisions;

For This Role, You Will Need

• Law Degree from an accredited law school

• Comfortable working with senior management

• Intermediate MS Office skills

• Proficiency in English: oral and written

• Open to travel (10-20%)

• Solution-finding, practical, with a strong eye for business, able to weigh and take reasonable risks

• Self-motivated and keen on getting involved in and exposed to all kinds of legal matters and business areas
