Post Title: Senior Disability Adviser

Salary: UH7 £37,099 pa to £40,521 pa with potential to progress to £44,263pa by annual increments on achieving designated skills and experience
Annual Leave: 30 days plus standard public holidays and an additional 4 days including the closure of our office between Christmas and New Year

As part of its continuous commitment to providing professional and specialist support services to the University Community, the Dean of Students Office is investing substantially in the growth and expansion of its dedicated team in order to reach out and support as many students as possible. The Dean of Students Office is also a key source of support and guidance to colleagues across the University, working together to enhance and support the student experience. This is a new and exciting role which is being implemented to support and contribute to a professional and specialist service which supports a growing number of students presenting to the disability team with complex, lifelong disabilities and challenges.
Main duties and responsibilities
You will deputise for the Head of Disability as appropriate, responding to emergent enquiries, providing advice and guidance and ensuring that the University continues to deliver the excellent standard of support and provision for disabled students. Carrying complex students caseloads, you will work closely with a number of university teams and external providers. You will both co-create and deliver university wider training and awareness sessions. You will have the opportunity to work on and to lead in a number of initiatives and projects designed to enhance current provision and positively impact the student journey and the university’s inclusive practice.
Skills and experience required
You will have extensive experience of working in a higher education setting within a role that has meant you have managed complex cases, managed a demanding caseload and have provided support advice and guidance to a range of students accessing higher education. You will have knowledge and experience of working with and supporting students with a range of complex difficulties and disabilities and will be committed to ensuring their access to education has no barriers.
Qualifications required
You will be educated to minimum of degree level or equivalent and hold a professional qualification or extensive CPD in a relevant area of Disability.
