Lancaster University’s School of Computing and Communications is growing and we are seeking to appoint six new academic members of staff including a Senior Lecturer to join us in helping to advance the field of Computer Supported Collaborative Work.  Lancaster has a rich history of research in this area and recent world events have demonstrated the continuing importance of studying the role of technology in helping society to work together.  Applicants should have a track record of achievement in research, teaching and engagement and a compelling vision for their future research and teaching as well as the impact they expect their work can make.

Research, teaching and a collegiate approach are all crucial to us: you should be passionate about joining a team committed to combining both research and education and seeing students succeed.

Lancaster has particular strengths in collaborative and interdisciplinary work both within the School and through our research centres and institutes and we encourage applications from those who are genuinely interested in the potential for collaborative approaches to address some of the grand challenges facing computer science and society more generally.

The School of Computing and Communications (SCC) at Lancaster University is a research-intensive department comprising of over 50 academics and 170 researchers, with a grant portfolio exceeding £25m from a wide range of sources including EPSRC, Innovate UK, EU and industry.  We offer a multidisciplinary environment with enormous potential for collaboration and work on challenging real-world problems especially via our interdisciplinary research institutes and centres and the new £42m Health Innovation Campus.  The School is housed in the iconic InfoLab21 building on the University’s main campus located in beautiful countryside just outside the city of Lancaster.

Lancaster University is TEF Gold, Times/Sunday Times University of the Year (2018) and Times/Sunday Times International University of the Year (2020), recognising ongoing commitment to both research and teaching and major investments in our campus and facilities.
