Senior Lecturer in Assistive Technologies

The School of Computer Science are recruiting a Senior Lecturer in Assistive Technology. Preference will be given to candidates whose research and expertise aligns with key topics of assistive and accessible technology, and who can demonstrate a track record of real-world activity and impact. The postholder will contribute towards research, innovation and engagement in assistive technologies, and support teaching across the School as required, including for our new MSc programme in Human-Computer Interaction. Teaching may be required across a full spectrum of Computer Science subjects, as well as in the candidate’s specialist disciplines. 

You should have a reputation based on a track record of innovative research and a recognised contribution to the discipline through professional activities. You will be enthusiastic for undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, supervising research students, and producing high quality research leading to publications and impact through industry.

• Develop and maintain an internationally outstanding programme of research leading to outstanding publications in the subject area;
• Develop research with regard to its potential impact beyond the academy;
• Work to attract external research funding from research councils, government, industry or other sources;
• Be willing to lead on funding bids and knowledge dissemination initiatives;
• Be involved in all aspects of School research management including internal peer review activities, research mentoring, staff review, and strategic research development.
Teaching
• Contribute to the scholarly activities of the School;
• Supervise postgraduate research students;
• Teach effectively at all levels of the School curriculum;
• Develop and introduce new units and/or degree programmes as required;
• Take on lead roles in relation to programmes, curriculum development, and the broader student experience.
Administration/Management
• Make a wider contribution to the success of the School through participation in academic administration. Responsibilities may include: programme development; promotion, marketing and admissions; organising and monitoring delivery of units; overseeing the welfare of students including personal tutoring; liaising with external examiners; interaction with Industry and external partners; coordinating/supporting allocated teaching associates; outreach activities; programme/unit review in accordance with the University’s Quality Assurance practices.
• Contribute to the effective running of the School and Faculty by undertaking administrative duties as assigned by the Head of School.
