We are seeking a Senior Lithography Engineer to support advanced research in the management and development of lithography process using the world’s first 200kV electron-beam lithography tool situated in the Southampton Nanofabrication Centre at the University of Southampton, U.K.

Key responsibilities of this role include:

  • Plan and deliver in depth specialist technical services for high quality research within the field of Electron Beam Lithography, project managing the research activity, specifically relating to “A capability for patterning beyond-CMOS devices at atomic scale”. 
  • Creation of standard operating procedures for E-beam lithography tool
  • Proactively engaging with the vendors and other research institutes to develop and improve of exposure techniques and methodology.
  • Ongoing upkeep of lab health and safety measures

The ideal candidate should have:

  • Experience in micro/nano-fabrication, preferably in the area of e-beam lithography 
  • Experience in process development, preferably in the area of photolithography
  • Strong problem-solving skills

Other desirable skills include:

  • Experience with using Proximity error correction and machine preparation software (e.g. GeNIsys Beamer, Tracer, Jobmaker)
  • Experience of root cause analysis
  • Proficiency with characterisation tools (e.g., SEMs, CD-SEMs, ellipsometry, etc.)

This position will suit an applicant who aims to rapidly grow their knowledge, cultivate high-impact and valuable skills on the forefront of advanced lithography technology. With the growth in these skills, it is expected that the position will evolve into an increasingly independent role, so the successful applicant will demonstrate the ability to self-organize and plan their schedule of work to align with the larger goals for the facility. The applicant is expected to work as part of a cohesive team and contribute to the acquisition and dissemination of high-quality research results.
