Change your career, change lives

The Open University is the UK’s largest university, a world leader in flexible part-time education combining a mission to widen access to higher education with research excellence, transforming lives through education.

The role

We are looking for a dynamic professional who can operate in the role of Senior Manager (Qualifications) within the Faculty of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM), working across one or more Schools.

You will work closely with the Directors of Teaching, Qualification Leads and the Head of Curriculum Delivery to support qualification-related activity at both the School and Faculty level. You will help us meet retention and progression targets and play an important role in our work to continue improvements in the student experience. You will also be responsible for the line management and leadership of a group of Curriculum Managers, who provide support in the development and maintenance of curriculum.

To be effective in the role you will be a graduate with excellent communication skills, demonstrable experience of working collaboratively in an academic/educational environment and the ability to be proactive and use your initiative. You will be skilled in persuading others and be confident in managing multiple competing priorities simultaneously.

What you get in return

We have a strong commitment to providing training and development in and beyond your current role. This includes thorough induction into the organisation and regular reviews of your training and development needs.

It is anticipated that a hybrid working pattern can be adopted for this role, where the successful candidate can work from home and the office. However, as this role is contractually aligned to our Milton Keynes office it is expected that some attendance in the office will be required when necessary and in response to business needs.

We also offer a great range of benefits that support our employees and their families for the long term. Staff Benefits include an attractive pension proposition and 33 days holiday per annum pro rata, plus Bank Holidays and Christmas closure days
