The Petrochemical Pole of Berre is a petrochemical complex that covers nearly 1,000 hectares, located on the banks of the Etang de Berre, 30 km from Marseille in the south of the France. This site includes a steam cracker and world-class Polypropylene and Polyethylene units. Polyolefin units produce Polypropylene and Polyethylene with a large number of domestic and industrial applications. This site also includes chemical units and logistics facilities such as port equipment, pipelines, storage and distribution terminals.

As part of our activities, we are looking for a Senior Sourcing Specialist (F/M) for our petrochemical site in Berre.

Basic Function

The purpose of the job is to create value by providing appropriate input into the development and implementation of sourcing strategies, function/business specific related agreements and related work processes in accordance with the global strategy.

Support of all clients in the business and functions of responsible category areas. An active team member with responsibility for various sourcing activities pertaining to running the business, capital projects and provides support to the overall sourcing strategy.

Roles & Responsibilities

Executes the sourcing process and can effectively source segments and/or commodities with increasing complexity and medium value.

• Understands strategies for assigned segments or commodities and proactively drives initiatives to meet sourcing objectives. Ability to assess supplier capabilities thru KPI analysis and make recommendations on supplier acceptability. Identifies and qualifies new suppliers as required.
• Understands strategies for assigned commodities and proactively drives initiatives to meet sourcing objectives agreements and related work processes in accordance with the global strategy.
• Owns Sourcing events and Contracts up to a level of 10mil Euro. Ensures high ethical and financial control compliance standards are met by the organization. Maximizes revenue share and controls cost by responding to audits, surveys, or other information requests from internal and external sources.
• Supports Category Manager to drive external ASP (Advance Supplier Potential) and internal ACP (Advance Competiveness Potential) initiatives.
• Supports Category Managers during complex sourcing initiatives through data modeling and analysis, change management and new process execution.
• Articulates LYB procurement policies and standards. Encourages and enforces compliance. Answers inquiries requiring interpretation of policies and contributes to a strong governance culture by complying with appropriate governance policies and procedures.
• Independent execution of procurement processes (incl. support of the CO2 emission reduction program) based on our contract standards including market inquiries, bid comparisons, execution of negotiations
• Support LyondellBasell’s sustainability efforts as one of the key elements of the procurement strategy in the course of supplier management

Degree & Experiences

• Master’s degree in sciences or engineering (Technical Degree) or comparable technical degrees
• Work Experience: 3+ years of work experience in the area of purchasing, maintenance, engineering or project execution

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of negotiation, presentation and analytical skills
• Knowledge in MS-Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and SAP and ARIBA-skills
• Knowledge to create 7 step sourcing strategies (Kearney method) and Should Cost Model (Anklesaria)
• French fluent and English business fluent
• A third European language a plus
