This role will be based at the NIHR CRN Leeds or London offices, with scope for it to be undertaken in a hybrid manner. We are also open to discussing flexible working arrangements.

Do you have experience of engaging stakeholders from a wide range of backgrounds?

Do you want to be part of a supportive and inclusive team that is passionate about meaningful public engagement to help shape, design and recruit participants to health and social care research studies?

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join a highly motivated and innovative team at the NIHR Clinical Research Network’s National Coordinating Centre.

Your role will be to lead and deliver our Patient Engagement in Clinical Development service. The primary aim of the service is to bring patients and life science companies together early in the clinical development process, before a study protocol is finalised, so that patients can help companies to optimise the trial design by making it as patient friendly as it can be.

Your role will involve building and maintaining positive relationships between the life sciences industry, the NIHR and patients/participants to embed a culture of inclusive involvement throughout the entire life cycle of a study. You will directly line manage a service co-ordinator and will work as part of the Public Engagement team in the NIHR Coordinating Centre. You will also be closely linked to the Business Development and Management team and wider NIHR infrastructure and report directly to the Head of Public Engagement.

At the University of Leeds, we are committed to providing a culture of inclusion, respect and equity of opportunity that attracts, supports, and retains the best students and staff from all backgrounds. Whatever role we recruit for we are always striving to increase the diversity of our community, which each individual helps enrich and cultivate.   We particularly encourage applications from, but not limited to Black, Asian, people who belong to a minority ethnic community; people who identify as LGBT+; and disabled people.  Candidates will always be selected based on merit and ability.

We have identified that disabled people and Black, Asian and ethnically diverse people are currently underrepresented in this role and particularly welcome applications. Candidates will always be selected based on merit and ability.
