We are seeking a Senior Statistician to join Associate Professor Goylette Chami’s Research Group that that extends big data methods to rural poor settings in sub-Saharan Africa. The main focus of the of the research group is to improve the effectiveness of treatment for schistosomiasis by taking a multifaceted approach that combines statistical learning with epidemiology, large-scale fieldwork, and community engagement.
This role involves taking the lead in providing statistical expertise to a multi-disciplinary team by creating mathematical models, developing dynamic simulations, and performing Bayesian analyses of complex morbidities across multiple time points. The post holder take the lead in providing statistical guidance and advice to other members of the group on methodologies or procedures, and actively participate in ongoing research projects and will manage their own academic research and administrative activities.
To be considered you will hold a PhD in statistics, epidemiology, or a related scientific discipline. Research experience working with complex biomedical/clinical data and ability to assimilate the literature on schistosomiasis and its coinfections, to address investigations accordingly, and to contribute ideas for new research projects are essential for this post.
The post is full-time (although part-time is considered) and fixed term – 1 year in the first instance.
