This is an exciting opportunity to be at the forefront of the council’s response to the
ecological emergency. Working as part of a dedicated team, you will help to develop and deliver
biodiversity policies, strategies and initiatives to support the council’s priority of “valuing
the environment”.

Acting as a champion for the environment, you will work with internal colleagues, partners and
communities to develop a new, long-term approach to conserving and enhancing the East Riding of
Yorkshires unique and spectacular natural environment. This will include implementing key
elements of the Governments 25 Year Environment Plan, as well as supporting the council to meet
new requirements under the Environment Act.

The ability to forge excellent relationships with a range of stakeholders and deliver an
ambitious programme of work to a high standard is required. You should be educated to degree
level or equivalent in a relevant subject and have an in-depth understanding of legislation,
policy and best practice relating to biodiversity and the natural environment.

Experience of project management, policy/strategy development and partnership working are
essential. Experience of working within a local authority context would be beneficial but not
essential.

Based at County Hall, Beverley for 37 hours per week.
