Janssen PMP is recruiting for a SENIOR TECHNICAL DEVELOPMENT TEAM MANAGER Crop ManagementIn this role, you will be responsible for the technical development of a range of pre-harvest and post-harvest products, with a strong focus on natural technologies and optimization of the use of our current products. As the leader of the Technical Development team of 3 people, you will play a crucial role in bridging the gap between our Research & Development and Sales & Marketing teams. The position reports to the Director R&D and Business Development.
Job ResponsibilitiesAs the Senior Technical Development Team Manager, your main responsibilities will include:

• Contributing to the technical support of our existing portfolio and new products under development mainly derived from nature.
• Creating a compelling technical story line to position our products effectively in the market, based on documented performance and market requirements.
• With the support of the Technical Development team, developing and coordinating internal and external studies to generate technical proof and background for proposed recommendations of use.
• Acting as a key link between our R&D and Sales & Marketing teams to identify technical product characteristics that meet customer needs.
• Providing product trials with Contract Research Organizations (CRO’s), universities, customers, and key opinion leaders.
• Directly interacting with customers under the coordination of Sales & Marketing.
• Delivering technical information and support to be translated into effective marketing communication by the Product Manager.
• Providing technical training to the Janssen PMP team and distributors to enhance user effectiveness during product launches.
• Serving as the technical center of expertise and go-to focal point for existing and newly launched products.
• Offering technical support at the customer level with the support of your team.

More specifically, as the Senior Technical Development Team Manager, you will:

• Work independently and lead assignments and projects of moderate to high complexity.
• Provide coaching and guidance to peers, team members, coops, and external consultants.
• Contribute as a key contributor in product development project teams based on your strong technical knowledge and market background.
• Act as a project leader or core team member for certain projects.

To be successful in this role, you should meet the following requirements:

• Ability to coordinate global technical trials in a consistent manner, including evaluation of results, statistical analysis, and reporting.
• Experience in translating complex technical messages into compelling marketing stories for the Janssen PMP team but also for our customers.
• Excellent communication skills both internally and externally.
• Curious, structured, and creative in problem-solving.
• Strong focus on business development with ability to work autonomously.
• Flexible, entrepreneur minded, and the able to thrive in a demanding environment.
• Strong team leadership skills, with the ability to inspire and lead by example.

Preferred Profile

• You have obtained at least a master’s degree in agriculture, horticulture, bioengineering, or plant sciences with a minimum of 10 years of relevant professional experience in the agricultural sector.
• You have experience in plant protection products technical development, preferably in pre and/or post-harvest. Expertise with 1-MCP active substance is a plus.
• You possess a strong understanding of biological crop protection and biostimulants.
• You have experience in managing an international team.
• You are fluent in English; any additional languages such as Dutch and/or Spanish are a plus.

LocationIdeally, this position will be based in Beerse, Belgium.
TravelThis role requires approximately 20% travel.
