This is an exciting time to join our ITS team and support our University Digital mission.  We are looking for 2 enthusiastic senior testers to be part of our friendly team.

The Senior Testers will provide critical testing expertise under the direction of Head of Testing and Environments.  The Senior Testers will be a key part of an established dedicated testing function, led by the Head of Testing & Environments.

As part of the University’s Student Journey Programme, the Digital Experience Project is one of the projects that you will be assigned to. The DXP Project was approved in order to deliver consistent, secure and personalised access to information and applications across many digital touchpoints to a range of audiences via an integrated set of technologies.  The aspiration is to provide a seamless, easy digital experience for students, providing access to a range of tools and services to support and engage them throughout their journey. This would include a rich mix of transactional services and other content, to collect relevant information, inform them and enhance their sense of community.

The University’s digital mission is to ensure that we harness the opportunities of the digital age in the delivery of a personalised experience that enables our students and staff to thrive, succeed and flourish. In support of this mission, the Digital Experience Project (DXP) aims to deliver a new consistent and inclusive student logged-in experience in the form of a presentation layer/user interface that acts as a single point of entry from which students will be able to access all UWE systems and services in a clear and intuitive way.

Along with the Digital Experience Project, IT Services deliver on critical data services that are developed in Azure Cloud.  The Senior Tester will have experience in developing and testing API’s.  IT Services have invested in new automation tools to mature our automation capability.

Along with the Head of Testing & Environments, the Senior Testers are responsible for establishing and maintaining testing excellence across the service, including functional and non-functional testing for software and infrastructure projects. The successful candidate will promote the importance of testing to the project lifecycle and lead the adoption of new testing practices and disciplines.

The role is a unique opportunity to provide a significant contribution to the strategic direction of ITS and the wider University in the promotion of testing excellence.

About you:

You will have held a Senior Tester position with exposure of the following:

  • Knowledge and demonstrable experience of Manual and automated testing
  • Be able to understand requirements and design test cases/scenarios that will ensure full requirements coverage
  • Have ISTQB qualification to at least foundation level
  • Knowledge and demonstrable experience of API testing
  • Experience of functional and non-functional testing such as functional, system, integration, regression, accessibility testing and UAT testing.
  • Some experience having developed automation frameworks or been part of a team that has developed automation frameworks
  • Have an understanding of Agile and Waterfall methodologies
  • Have had exposure of working in a scrum team
  • Be able to work independently as well as work collaboratively within a team
  • Be able to coach and mentor junior roles
  • Able to work in a collaborate and inclusive way and is ambitious in meeting objectives

This is a full-time, permanent post, working 37 hours per week.
