We are looking for a Senior Underwriter for our Natural Resources line based in Madrid (Spain).Your TeamOur seasoned team takes ownership of top key accounts and clients, skillfully navigating through complex negotiations to ensure optimal participation, pricing, and terms and conditions. You will work in a team of highly experienced and motivated Underwriters with a great team spirit. The team is always open to support and learn from each other.The Impact You Will HaveReporting to the Team Leader of Natural Resources in Spain, you will join the team as a Senior Underwriter, who will aim to make profitable new and renewal business to meet Line of Business (LoB) targets regionally including global elements. • Underwrite large new and renewal accounts to meet top and bottom-line targets

• Grow the Renewables portfolio and other technologies of the Energy Transition including e.g. modern efficient hydrogen ready combined cycle power plants and increase our presence in these changing markets.

• Negotiate participation, pricing and terms and conditions with brokers. Proactively manage capacity.

• Underwrite in line with LoB governance framework – e.g. Underwriting Authorities, global MSU, Underwriting Guidelines, Rules and Principles.

• Ensure contract certainty is achieved on all accounts at time of inception.

• Contribute to development and execution of global Underwriting strategy for LoB regionally.

• Training, developing and coaching of less experienced staff (including Underwriters).

• Positively represent Allianz Commercial externally to the market with key brokers / distribution channels.

• Proactively drive involvement of functional areas in Underwriting process, including e.g. Distribution, ARC, Claims, Operations.

• Develop and maintain strong relationships with key brokers and clients and other relevant stakeholders (e.g. risk managers

What You’ll Bring to the Role

• Preferably a degree in Economics, Engineering, or other appropriate discipline.

• Completion of professional insurance qualification (e.g. CII).

• Significant experience in Underwriting profitable business in the Natural Resources or Engineering market. Specialized expert understanding of sub-LoB products and portfolio.

• Recognized relationships with brokers at peer group level and well established within market.

• Specialized understanding of regional / local LoB insurance markets and competitor landscape, including global element.

• Good understanding of legal and regulatory framework.

• Ability to assess risk inherent exposures and natural hazards relevant to LoB.

• Design, develop and implement consistent, robust wordings.

• Ability to analyze highly complex data, from multiple sources, in detail; identify and resolve issues before they transpire.

• Ability to persuade and motivate others to act, without executive authority.

• Fluent English and Spanish language

• Experience in applying artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) to improve business processes and decision-making is highly beneficial.
